Upstate New York welding and fabricating plant owner Mark Andol was fed up when his suffering business lost a $2.5 million contract to China, so he’s opening a store this weekend devoted to products that are 100% made in the US. Andol has scoured the nation to find items to stock his “Made in the USA” store in Elma,
east of Buffalo. Up to half of an item can contain foreign materials and still bear a label saying it was made here. Andol has made sure everything in his store, from the thread holding the teddy bears together to the shelves supporting them, is all-American. He even settled for a vintage cash register because he couldn’t find a modern one made in the states. The store will run the gamut, from Cheese Please dog treats out of Wisconsin to cans of American-grown sliced peaches.
