Scientists believe that the Voyager 2 probe, which NASA launched into space in 1977, may have been hijacked by aliens who are trying to make contact with Earth. Now more than 8 billion miles away, the spacecraft began transmitting strange signals in April that experts at NASA have been unable to decipher. While the space agency says the bizarre communications are likely the result of a software glitch, other experts argue that there may something more significant occurring. “Other than the unusual transmissions, everything aboard the vessel seems to be in working order,” says German astrophysicist Otto Kohler. “To me, that suggests that the craft was taken over and reprogrammed to begin transmitting these messages.
