Kellie Pickler is now engaged to songwriter Kyle Jacobs. Kyle popped the question June 15th which has long been a “sad and hard” day for Kellie considering that’s the day her grandmother Faye Pickler passed away. Having the proposal on that landmark day made Kellie and Kyle both feel like they had her grandmother’s blessing. Kyle had a blanket with champagne and candles waiting on the beach where the couple was taking a stroll. “Afterward, we just held each other and had the most beautiful prayer,” Kyle says. “We had a little champagne and talked and laughed and cried.” The two met two-and-a-half years ago and Kellie attributes Kyle for taking away all of her fears about marriage. Kellie says she’s the happiest she’s ever been and plans to have her father, who has been sober for a year, walk her down the isle.
Kellie is the latest of three young female country artists to get engaged. First it was Carrie Underwood, then Miranda Lambert and now Kellie. She says the three are happy for one another and she knows there will be lots of girl talk and sharing of ideas in the months to come. “We just keep joking about how there must be something in the water,” says Kellie.
Kellie says Kyle inspires her to be a better person which she feels important in a marriage. “It’s so important that when you do settle down, that you are with someone who makes you want to be a better person, if that makes sense. We are very, very happy. We’ve been together for about 2 ½ years now and he’s very good to me. And he’s such a man of God, which is the most important thing. Yeah, he’s great.”
