Wynette Honored By Exhibition
Country legend Tammy Wynette has been honored by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum with a brand new exhibition, which will showcase the singer’s incredible work over a ten month run. The singer, whose career was tragically cut short at the age of 55, is regarded as having one of the strongest musical legacies of any country musician.
To celebrate the announcement, and Wynette’s life, Last.fm Trends took a look at what people have been listening to, and what the singer’s most popular ten tracks are to date. More after the jump…
Tammy Wynette boasts one of the most popular country music catalogs of her generation. Her songs have been covered endlessly, and taken up as standards by a raft of singers all in tribute to the singer. The most popualr songs played by Last.fm listeners feature such hits as “He Loves Me All the Way” and “I Don’t Wanna Play House“
Wynette’s vocals famously crossed over with a new generation in the early nineties, when British house music band The KLF featured her on “Justified and Ancient“, a number one hit around the world that still picks up 245 listeners every week on Last.fm.
But Wynette’s most popular track to date remains “Stand By Your Man“. Not only was the song a worldwide smash, but it still picks up over 1000 listeners every week, currently boasting 150,031 scrobbles to date. Doubtless, it’s a track that will feature heavily in the First Lady of Country Music exhibition.
