wqyk pink web Komen 3 Day: Route Preview

The Susan G Komen 3-Day for the Cure 60 mile walk for breast cancer kicks off this Friday morning with an emotional opening ceremony. Check out a preview of what all the walkers will see out on the road!

Friday:  It will begin with an emotional Opening Ceremony at Sand Key Park, where we’ll gather together to pay tribute to the many women and men who have lost their battle with breast cancer, and honor the survivors. We’ll remember the reason we’re walking as we enjoy award-winning views from the Memorial Causeway Bridge and miles of Florida’s beautiful County Parks, including the Florida Botanical Gardens and Heritage Village.  You will complete Friday’s journey on the Gulf of Mexico and enjoy an air-conditioned bus ride to camp, your home away from home for the weekend.
Saturday: On Saturday morning, we’ll rise and shine, ready to hit the trail. This second day of walking will feature more breath-taking views.  You will stroll down world-class beaches and intercoastal waterways and pass local neighborhood beach shops as well as some of the most beautiful homes located between the water and cobblestone streets. Then it’s back to camp for another night of community, camaraderie and fun.

Sunday : The final day of our journey will highlight the historic St. Petersburg neighborhoods that line the Tampa Bay waterfront. It all culminates at Spa Beach Park, close to The Pier in downtown St. Petersburg, where you will join family and friends for a celebratory Closing Ceremony.

Come cheer on the walkers and our WQYK Team!!

Cheering Stations Info:

Public cheering stations are a great way to show your support along the route to encourage walkers and let them know that you are with them every step of the way. Seeing familiar faces cheering them on can provide that extra burst of energy that gets them to take that next step or go the next mile. Create banners, hold up signs, bring some music and make some noise – anything to make them smile, get energized and keep walking.
