When bands return home from tour it doesn’t usually make the news, but Gloriana‘s recent shows put them in front of US troops stationed in the Middle East and Europe on a tour they’ll never forget.
Last.fm Trends checks out how they’re doing, and discovers what songs will have been in demand.
Gloriana might be a young band, but they’ve packed a punch among listeners at Last.fm. Their self-titled debut has so far picked up 283,805 plays from 40,594 listeners, which is pretty impressive for a country debut.
It accounts for around half of their total impact to date: they’ve had 538,645 plays from 95,157 listeners across all of their single and EP releases alongside Gloriana.
The most played single the album has so far spawned is “Wild At Heart,” a feelgood anthem that reportedly secured them their opening slot for Taylor Swift in 2009. It’s netted them 271,451 scrobbles – that’s plays from Last.fm listeners – in the last two years. Their recent trend has been a very gradual drop in listeners, but ahead of new material that’s no surprise.
Behind “Wild At Heart” “How Far Do You Wanna Go?” rides up the chart. It’s some way off – just 95,383 scrobbles to date – but its plays week-on-week have stayed pretty much level since being released as a single. It’s a long way ahead of the competition too, with many of the band’s album tracks peaking at between 15,000 – 20,000 plays so far.
With new material reportedly ‘just around the corner’ be sure to check out Last.fm Trends to see if Gloriana match expectations.
