What do [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Chris Young[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Randy Travis[/lastfm] Have in common? The title of this blog gives part of it away. It’s as [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Darius Rucker[/lastfm] would say, “History In The Making”. :)

Chris Young’s latest single, “Voices” was originally released in May of 2008, and it barely made it into the top 40. He then released two back to back #1 hits with “Gettin’ You Home” and “The Man I Want To Be”. Chris’ record company believed so much in the song “Voices” that they decided to release the song a second time. What a great decision it’s turned out to be for Chris Young, it’s become a huge hit and it climbing the Top 5! If the song continues to climb upward he could match a record that was set by Randy Travis 25 years ago. Randy Travis’ smash “On The Other Hand” didn’t do well it’s first go round either, the song was re-released and ended up becoming a #1 Billboard Country hit! Making it the only time in country music history that a re-release of the same recording of the same song ever climbed to the number-one slot on the Billboard country chart. COOL!

Chris says he is thrilled about the possibility of making history with “Voices”, and says, “The thing is, it’s so surprising — in a good way. We always believed in this song. I had a lot of fans that were like, ‘We believe in that song.’ And then country radio is supportin’ this and pushin’ it, and it’s so cool to see this song doin’ so well. It is a blindside moment. It’s almost like when I got nominated for the GRAMMY. I just was not expecting it, and it’s so cool to see all this stuff happening.”

You’ll find “Voices” on Chris Young’s  album, The Man I Want to Be, which also includes the number-one hit title track, as well as “Gettin’ You Home”.

Here’s an awesome LIVE version of Randy Travis’ “On The Other Hand”…
