The White House has released President Obama’s long form birth certificate today. It’s something the state of Hawaii normally does not do, but did at the President’s request.  This has been a hot topic of debate for a long time and with all the important issues to be dealt with, the President’s birthplace seemed to be at the forefront. White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer said “the president was struck by how this was crowding out the debate on the budget. It became an issue that transcended the Internet and conspiracy theorists and had moved into the mainstream.”

“The president decided to do this…because this was a sideshow that’s distracting from” significant issues, Mr. Pfeiffer said.  The birth certificate says that Obama was born at 7:24 p.m. on Aug. 4, 1961, in Honolulu. Now with this long form certificate out to the public, perhaps this debate can be laid to rest.

In his official statement on the subject the President said “We do not have time for this kind of silliness. We have better stuff to do. I have better stuff to do.”  Adding “We’re not going to be able to [solve these problems] if we’re distracted … if we just make stuff up and pretend that facts are not facts … if we get distracted by sideshows.”
