“This world is rough, and if a man’s gonna make it he’s gotta be tough”…and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Johnny Cash[/lastfm] was sure one tough son of a gun! This country music legend certainly left his mark with his music and heart, and his legacy lives on in our hearts as well! So many of today’s country artists cite Johnny as a major influence, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jason Aldean[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kid Rock[/lastfm] and the list goes on. So today I am featuring the “Man In Black” with my all time favorite song from Johnny, “A Boy Named Sue.”
I love so many of Johnny Cash‘s songs, but this is the one that cracked me up when I was a little kid! I would sing….memorized every word, while pushing my Grandparent’s living room ‘console stereo’ to it’s volume limit!
Johnny Cash- “A Boy Named Sue”
When Johnny’s beloved wife June Carter Cash passed away, I just had a feeling that Johnny would soon follow. After he wrote this song, one of his last recordings before his death, it was obvious that the love these two shared was that ‘one of a kind love’ and without June, Johnny truly was heartbroken. Watching this video still brings tears to my eyes. A cover song of an original [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Nine Inch Nails[/lastfm] song, Johnny sings with such raw and powerful emotion, it is hard to not ‘feel’ his pain.
