Jake Owen’s Dad Helps Him Sign Autographs At CMA Fest
[lastfm]Jake Owen[/lastfm] knows just how important family is, especially when it comes to navigating the CMA Music Festival. You won’t believe the things he told us his dad helps him do at country music’s biggest festival.
When was your first CMA Music Festival or Fan Fair?
My first CMA was as a performer—I never came as a fan, living down in Florida, I never got up here. I played my first year at the River Stages, and my mom and dad came. They come every year. They’re here now. It really feels good the first time people come up to you asking you for your autograph, and it really blew my parents mind, because I’m still their son. My dad would see people out in the audience, and he knew they wanted an autograph, and he’d go get their stuff and bring it back for me to sign. ‘Hey Jake, will you sign this for that kid over there?’
Who are you most excited to see play at the CMA Music Festival?
I’m looking forward to seeing Keith Urban perform. I’m on tour with him this year, and he’s just awesome. He’s just a talent, and it’s going to be cool to see what he does out there this year.
What’s next for you?
I have a new record coming out in a couple of months. My new single “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” is rocking up the chart right now, and we’ve got the Keith Urban tour. I got my own semi-truck this year. It’s a big step for me. I was laughing, telling my mom and dad, when I moved to town the only trailer I’ve ever had was a dang Uhaul. So now, to have an actual semi-truck is pretty cool.
