You can’t help but to love [lastfm]Joanna Smith[/lastfm]. Her passion and excitement for country music is contagious. It’s that love for the music that first brought her to the CMA Music Festival as a fan when she was in high school, and now she’s here as an artist on the rise. We got a few minutes to talk with Joanna and she told us all about the time she and her cousin came up the CMA Fest to check out all the bands, and plus, she made a big announcement, just for us!
When was your first CMA Music Festival or Fan Fair?
My senior year in high school, my cousin and I came up here, as the biggest country music fans you can imagine. We had our laminates, we were everywhere, and now we both live here. She is a very successful business manager for some of the biggest video directors and songwriters in Nashville, and she’s my business manager. We saw Alabama, we saw Tick Pony, and we saw Lila McCann—isn’t that a hoot? But if the line was too long, we wouldn’t wait (laughs).
Who are you most excited to see play at the CMA Music Festival?
I’m gonna catch my buddy Jerrod Neiman and Josh Thompson. Those are two of my road buddies, so I’m looking forward to seeing them
What’s next for you?
I have an incredibly exciting announcement! I’m going into the studio with Buddy Cannon, a new producer. It’s gonna to be a lot of fun. Once we get through all this summer touring, we’re gonna go in the studio and cut some songs.
