Street Date: Blake Shelton “Red River Blue” Review
Every Tuesday our friends at Street Date bring us the low down on the newest albums dropping. Today, they review Blake Shelton’s latest project.
[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Blake Shelton[/lastfm] has already struck digital gold with his first single “Honey Bee” and I can tell you after listening to Red River Blue, that it won’t be the last.
I have a few friends and family members getting married this summer and I have already told them about “God Gave Me You.” It’s a great followup to “Who Are You When I’m Not Looking” and shows Blake’s softer side with major first wedding dance potential. “Get Some” comes off as an homage to Blake’s twitter escapades, with lyrics like – “You get gas/You get beer/You get weird/You get drove home/You get up-thrown,” an anthem to irresponsible Friday nights. Blake continues on with the drinking and bar themes with “Drink On It.” It’s a mellow drinking song, that turns into a classy/cutesy 2:00 a.m. pickup song. ~Cole Everett, CBS Radio, Detroit
