Our friends at MP3.com recently relaunched their site, and to celebrate we’re helping them give away some fantastic new songs for free! Today, we’re featuring “You Lie” from The Band Perry.
The lovely mandolin that kicks off [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Band Perry[/lastfm]‘s recent single “You Lie” can be a bit deceiving: it sets a lighthearted tone to the song, a tone that the lyrics soon shoot down out of the sky. Kimberly Perry of The Band Perry tells it like it is–and she’s not exactly happy right now.
They tried to warn me
They said that you were ornery
So don’t bring me those big brown eyes and tell me that you’re sorry
The Band Perry is, if you couldn’t have guessed already, a family band–one featuring the aforementioned Kimberly and her two brothers, Reid and Neil Perry. The band’s only got one album out so far, a self-titled beauty released late last year, but it’s already spawned three singles, including the straight-up honest song about blatant dishonesty, “You Lie.”
The song was, curiously enough, written by a trio who also happen to be members of the same family: Brian Henningsen (dad), Aaron Henningsen (son), and Clara Henningsen (daughter).
