To celebrate the release of “Own the Night,” our friends in New York had [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lady Antebellum[/lastfm] in their studio for an in depth interview, and you won’t believe some of the nuggets they let slip out. Check it out to find out who alters their underwear on the tour bus, who took shots of whiskey out of their GRAMMY, and which member of Lady A got rejected by the interns at American Idol for being “pitchy.”

Plus, Charles and Dave treated us to an a cappella mashup of “Just a Kiss” and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Wiz Khalifa[/lastfm]‘s “Black and Yellow.” You have to hear it to believe it.

Enter to win a trip to Las Vegas to meet Lady Antebellum!

Lady A also told us how crazy it was to take their band from being a side project to being the biggest act in country music. Hillary says was completely overwhelmed by the entire GRAMMY experience, and she was just thrilled to be in the same building as [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Mick Jagger[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Eminem[/lastfm], and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Taylor Swift[/lastfm].

“We were so excited. When we heard the nominations, we were just like, ‘What?!? We’re a band from Nashville. We met five years ago and started writing songs, and now we’re here.’ It was really bizarre to even be there with that many nominations. By the end of that night we were in such shock, I don’t think I was even forming complete sentences.”

Of course, sometimes that much excitement and emotion can lead to some interesting, unplanned moments. So what did Hillary say to Jennifer Lopez when they came face to face?

“The last award we received that night, Jennifer Lopez presented to us, and I was so out of my mind, in shock. We gave our acceptance speech, which I don’t even remember what I said, then I looked at her (Jennifer Lopez) and said ‘I love American Idol!’ So Random, and she was like ‘Ok– great.’ It was so awkward.”

Lady A knows how lucky they are to have the best jobs in the world, but one fan asked them what their dream job would be if they weren’t musicians. Charles said he would be a pro golfer, Hillary told us she would be a special ed teacher, and Dave, well, Dave just wants to throw oranges over arenas. You’ve got to hear it!
