Veronica’s Experience On “Dolphin Tale”
Even if I make the cutting room floor, it was so exciting to be part of a blockbuster movie filmed right here in Tampa Bay! Check out my day as an extra on Dolphin Tale, complete with photos and a story of how we almost tickled Ashley Judd’s toes!
Dolphin Tale, starring Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Harry Connick Jr and more, hits theatres nationally Friday.
Bright and early on the morning of May 19th, 2011, my boyfriend Rob and I drove to the staging area for our “jobs” as extras. We were invited to be in the crowd scene for the part of the movie featuring ”Save Winter Day” at the aquarium.
We walked inside the Harborview Center and had to stand in line to check in.There was a lot of people buzzing around! We made our way to Wardrobe. We had been told to wear “bright pastel clothing.”
A lady checked our look… and we were approved! I was nervous because they made a lot of people change into the clothes they had on hand. (It looked frumpy)
After that, Hair & Makeup also checked us off as “good to go” (Whew!!)
After a tasty breakfast served at Island Way Grill for participants, we made our way to the set at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
The houseboat featured in this photo was built especially for the movie! It now stays there as part of the aquarium’s attraction.
We looked across the water and got so excited… we could see Morgan Freeman standing on the dock!!
Turns out… that actually wasn’t Morgan Freeman. It was his stand-in! Ha ha!
We actually DID see Morgan arrive on set a few minutes after I snapped this photo. It was weird to see Morgan Freeman and “Fake Morgan Freeman” shake hands! They looked identical.
