Continuing our update on country music’s own Big [lastfm link_type=""]Vinny Hickerson[/lastfm], the Biggest Loser isn’t just another reality television show for a character to win a cash prize and garner a little fame while at it: it’s a matter of life and death.
The singer/songwriter and member of [lastfm link_type=""]Trailer Choir[/lastfm] (who had a minor hit with “Rockin’ The Beer Gut”), Hickerson was hospitalized and diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in February. “They told me at the rate I was going I might have two more years to live. I didn’t tell anyone I had one foot in the grave, though. It was very embarrassing.” He tried out for the show in Nashville, made the cut and has lost 36 pounds over the show’s first three weeks, down from 426. Getting healthy physically is a precursor to resuming his music career. Go Luck and Go Vinny Go.
