Josh Thompson Holiday TV Specials
[photogallerylink id=4745 align=right] Ho, ho, ho, yawl. ’Tis the season of holiday TV specials, and [lastfm link_type=""]Josh Thompson[/lastfm] says he’s still a kid at heart when it comes to some of the classics. But while Josh may have holly in his heart, there’s one annual movie that really gets under his skin.
Okay, Josh will not be watching the annual TBS marathon for A Christmas Story, the 1983 favorite starring Peter Billingsley, Melinda Dillon, and the late Darren McGavin. Hey, Josh has his reasons…
“Let me tell you what I dislike. You know that movie with the kid, the little blonde kid that puts his eye out — I hate the Christmas Story. Why is it always playing? I can’t stand it! I’ve seen it, like, I could practically rewrite it right now verbatim, and people just still watch it like it’s brand new. I just…I can’t stand it.” ”I can’t stand A Christmas Story. I just can’t do it. I don’t know…somethin’ ’bout that kid, and, like, puttin’ his eye out with a BB gun, ’cause when I was a kid, I heard it a million times. And, you know, he ruined it for a lot of little kids. He did. Because what’d he do? You know, he shot his glasses. He put me off of gettin’ a Daisy BB gun for years because of that one moment in the movie. So, not a fan. It ruined two good Christmases for me.”
