Protest Helps Contest Winner Get His $10,000 Prize [Video]
Can you imagine entering a contest, following the rules, winning the contest and not receiving your prize?! Well…that’s what happened to this man, Vincent Swope when he went to do a half-court shot to win a halftime contest during Saturday’s game against South Carolina to win $10,000.
Swope made the shot and he did a victory lap around sold-out Rupp Arena celebrating his big win. But, things changed because the organizers from the contest approached him telling him the company sponsoring the contest may not want to pay him his $10,000 because apparently he took the shot a few inches over the mid-court stripe. Some people have heard about this and are upset because they say he deserves his money, so people started doing a movement to support his win. People even started to protest outside the business when they heard word over the radio and of course the company realized what a big PR mistake this would be if they didn’t pay up. So of course within an hour of the game ending, the company informed Swope he would receive his prize.
