The people at Gaylord Entertainment have joined with country music superstar [lastfm link_type=""]Dolly Parton[/lastfm]‘s company to develop a $50 million 114-acre water and snow park close to Nashville’s Opryland Resort and the Grand Ole Opry.
The park is yet to be named but the first shovel of dirt will be turned over soon and is expected to be completed by summer of 2014. Officials say the music themed park is expected to draw 500,000 visitors in its first year. Mayor Karl Dean says: “The addition of this family entertainment complex adds a critical missing piece to our tourist offerings.” Gaylord closed its popular Opryland theme park on December 31, 1997, and replaced it with the Opry Mills shopping mall.
