Wade Bowen’s Musical Hero
One of [lastfm link_type=””]Wade Bowen[/lastfm]’s biggest musical heroes is “The Boss,” [lastfm link_type=””]Bruce Springsteen[/lastfm] and Wade tells the story of a Springsteen tour that resulted in a bit of a life-changing inspiration.
Wade said: “My wife and I were goin’ to see Springsteen in concert — it was the Devils and Dust Tour where he was just by himself; it wasn’t the band. And my wife was seven months pregnant, and we were tryin’ to decide on names and kind of one of those constant arguments of what we think the best name for our kid is. And he cranked in — third song was ‘Youngstown,’ actually — and he was doin’ this crazy stuff with his guitar, and my son, in the…my wife’s belly, would start hurtin’ her and beatin’ around down there goin’ crazy, which sums him up now, ’cause he’s crazy. And so I jokingly said, ‘Oh, look, he wants to be named “Bruce,”‘ and my wife loved it and thought it was great, so she stuck with it. (laughs) All right, well, I guess I can’t think of a better person other than my dad for him to be named after.”
