ACM Entertainer of the Year nominee Jason Aldean stopped by CBS This Morning to catch up with Gayle King and Erica Hill. While he was there, they talked about going from the simple life and marrying his high school sweetheart to rolling with an entourage and performing with Ludacris. Jason also told everybody about growing up in the home of the Allman Brothers and Otis Redding, and he even confessed to some of his childhood dreams that never quite came true, at least not yet.
When Jason was discussing his diverse range of musical influences growing up in Macon, Georgia, Gayle referenced his “Dirt Road Anthem” duet and said, “but I never would have put you with Ludacris, but it works,” to which Jason replied:
“Well, I wouldn’t have either, but I’m a fan… and I said, if he’s going to do it, I would love for him to write his own verse, and kind of make it kind of fit him a little more, so he did and when we wrote the verse and came and played it for us, I thought it was brilliant.”
