George Jones is being treated for an upper respiratory infection at a Hospital somewhere in the Nashville area. George had to cancel his show this past Saturday night in Peoria, Ill., after arriving.

The Country Music Hall of Fame member, whose nickname is the “Possum” because of the shape of his face and nose is 80yrs old, he was admitted to the hospital on Thursday  and is expected to remain under observation throughout the night before returning home.

George Jones is expected to return home sometime this morning.

George Jones is known for his long list of hit records, his distinctive voice, and his marriage to Tammy Wynette.

Jones has had more than 150 hits during his career, both as a solo artist and in duets with other artists.
