Mark your calendars for June 5th, because the self titled debut album from Jana Kramer is hitting shelves. With almost 250,000 in digital downloads for her single, “Why Ya Wanna,” we are expecting big things from the former One Tree Hill actress.
Jana told Taste of Country that “you are going to hear every side of me [on this album]. There’s a very sassy side … I don’t want to kill any of my ex-boyfriends, I just want them to suffer a little bit [laughs]. Then there’s the emotional side and the romantic side, because I’m a hopeless romantic at heart. Then the struggles of growing up and finding out who you are. People will get to know me on all different types of levels.”
Besides sharing her name with the album, Jana also will be sharing writing credit. She penned half the songs on the record. Even though she didn’t her single, “Why Ya Wanna,” she has “literally lived every second of that song.” She added “the song is great because it’s so personal, even though I didn’t write it.”
Jana also got a helping hand on the production of the album, with Scott Hendricks at the helm. That name might not mean anything to you, but he has worked with some biggies. He has worked with Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, Trace Adkins, Faith Hill, John Michael Montgomery, and Blake Shelton. According to The Encyclopedia of Country Music, Hendricks co-produced over 30 Number One country hits in the 1990s.
