Country superstar, Alan Jackson, is set to release his 17th studio album this June titled Thirty Miles West.
Thirty Miles West is shaping up to be a personal album for the living legend. The first single from the album, “So You Don’t Have To Love Me Anymore,” was even co-written by his nephew, Adam Wright. The title of the album is a reference back to his childhood.
According to his official website, when asked about the unique album title Jackson responds, “There’s this highway that’s been in existence for forever now – it’s called the Dixie Highway and it runs from north of Michigan all the way down to South Florida, and I wrote a song about it that’s on the album. I grew up on Highway 34 outside of Newnan, Georgia, and that’s where we came up with Thirty Miles West. I think we were about thirty miles west of the official part of the Dixie Highway that runs through Georgia.”
Alan mentions this new album will host a mixture of songs. “There are some cool things on there,” he reveals. “It’s kind of like most of my albums. It’s a mixture … uptempo and fun and serious and heartache songs.”
Here’s Jackson’s music video for the first single off the upcoming album. “So You Don’t Love Me Anymore.”
After winning a Grammy in 2011 for Best Country Collaboration With Vocals for “As She’s Walking Away” with Zac Brown, it’s sure to be a treat that this album will be featuring another “really fun, uptempo” song with Zac. The album will also reveal a more intimate, personal side of Alan in a song he wrote for his wife when they first found out she had cancer. “There’s a song I wrote that’s kind of hard to sing or listen to, because I wrote it when [my wife] Denise first found out she had cancer a year or so ago, and it just knocked me down,” he admits. “It was really tough, and this song came out of it. I don’t imagine it’s a commercial release or anything, but there’s a lot of emotion in that song.” (Source: alanjackson.com)
This will be his first record on for his own label, Alan’s Country Records, a joint venture with EMI Records. Thirty Miles West will hit shelves on June 5th.
