This week, Lauren Alaina was named as an Ambassador for the Special Olympics. Her new role will involve helping raise awareness and shape attitudes of younger generations toward people with intellectual disabilities who struggle to be accepted, heard and included in society. This is the next step in her involvement with the Special Olympics, since she has been involved with her hometown chapter since she was in the 6th grade.
In a press release, Lauren said the she is “honored to be asked to be an Ambassador for Special Olympics,” adding that “there is nothing that makes me happier or inspires me more than spending time with the athletes.”
Andrea Cahn, Senior Director for Special Olympics Project Unify said that Lauren has “exemplified the ideals of Special Olympics and commitment to this important work through her involvement as a volunteer. We are excited that Lauren will serve as our Ambassador and help carry our message to young people around the country.“
Lauren is currently out on tour with Jason Aldean and was also featured on the GAC show, Day Jobs. She returned to her old CiCi’s pizza gig, which she still hasn’t quit, to see if she still remembers how to work it.
