April 20 is just a normal day for most people. But for some, 4/20 is a celebration of a particular “herb”–and Willie Nelson is right there with a light.
The longtime marijuana and legalization advocate has released a brand new song called “Roll Me Up” on his website. It features names you may know, including Jamey Johnson and Kris Kristofferson, and rapper, Snoop Dogg.
The brand new song is the first off Nelson’s upcoming album, Heroes, which is due this May.
Nelson performed the song at Farm Aid (minus Jamey, Kris, and Snoop) and introduced it by saying he “wrote a new gospel song. It’s called ‘Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die’ [laughs].“
You can hear the new version with Willie, Jamey, Kris, and Snoop by clicking here. Depending on what kind of joint you work at, you might want to wait to listen until you get home.
Willie Nelson is also being celebrated today in the city of Austin, Texas. At 4:20pm, the city is revealing a bronze statue of Willie recognizing his music accomplishments and his support of a green (ahem) lifestyle.
