It pays to know the right people. Actually I’m kidding. But it did feel like it for a minute or two. I had the pleasure of dinning Saturday night before the WQYK Fun and Sun Toyota Country Concert in Clearwater on Sunday with Curb Recording artist Andy Gibson and his father. We ate at Seasons 52 and the service and food couldn’t have been better. In the posted picture, from left to right, you’ll see Andy Gibson, a very dear friend of mine from Pittsburgh, who now works for Curb Records, Chris DeCarlo, Nate, sorry I didn’t get his last name, John Gibson, Andy’s dad, Jay Roberts our music director and myself. The only thing that I can tell you that you may not have known is that Andy and his dad are both Sy-Fy fans. We talked about old movies, how we all enjoy National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and the difference between recording and mixing songs digitally as opposed to the actual pressing of vinyl records. Oh and there was something Mr. Gibson said about having to get up to change the television channel if you wanted to watch something else, and “rabbit ears,” but I guess that was before my time. Andy is excited about working with Curb Records, his new album is done, and should be on shelves very soon. Andy is in Schenectady, NY for a performance and if you need more info check him out at www.andygibson.com.
