Dierks Bentley puts his bluegrass stamp on Adele‘s “Set Fire To The Rain” in today’s episode of CMT Unplugged.

Dierks first takes us behind the scenes at Martin Custom Guitars and gives us a peek at his new Martin D28. Trimmed with red, white and blue herringbone, a Phoenix and Dierks’ hockey number, he gives us a close up of the customizations on his guitar and the significance of each.

“It’s the D28 which is a big booming sounding bluegrass guitar. I really love bluegrass music, I love getting that bluegrass sound that only a D28 can give you.”

In this episode of DBTV, he also walks us through his first performance of CMT Unplugged. “We felt alot of pressure going in but on the way out it was a lot of fun. . . hope you have as much fun watchin’ it as we had playin’ it.”

This isn’t the first time however, that Dierks covers a pop artist. On his album Up On The Ridge, Dierks covers U2′s “(Pride) In The Name Of Love” with The Punch Brothers featuring Del McCoury.

Dierks’ other passions include his firm support of our military, and his love of the outdoors and sporting events. This doesn’t involve his usual favorited gear, which we know is a hockey stick, but Bentley and crew recently teamed up with some Navy Seals for an intense game of paintball during some time off on the Country & Cold Cans Tour. Dierks shares the footage with us on a new episode of DBTV.

Dierks introduces the clip by proclaiming “we’re about go get real and play some paintball, having a great day in Virginia. Paintball, cold beer and country music: it’s going to be a great day, check it out, should be fun … watch out.”

In comedic fashion and dressed in full paint ball attire, Dierks’ Stage Manager, Jay claims “You know I dream of being a Navy Seal, except I don’t have the discipline, the honor and well, just way to lazy to be honest with ya, and my feet wrinkle real easy in water.”

To protect their identities, the Navy Seal’s eyes are masked on the video. When asked if this is something similar to what you might see in the field, one Seal jokes, “no, this is Army.” Let the games begin. Watch below!
