The date is set. The 55th annual GRAMMY Awards are set to air February 10, 2013 and predictions have already started circling around the web. Our WQYK staff members have their own picks.

WQYK Music Director, Jay Roberts, believes Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert will be leading the pack at next year’s GRAMMYs, possibly taking home a win for Best Country Solo Performance.  Roberts also thinks Kenny Chesney or Tim McGraw could make an appearance in the nominations. “Kenny Chesney has his new album coming out next month. That’s sure to be a hit,” says Roberts. Chesney’s “Welcome to The Fish Bowl” comes out June 19, which gives it plenty of time to be considered for album of the year.

WQYK’s Hank Dale’s picks include Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum. “There are a lot of strong females in country music right now. It’s about time for the females to take over,” Dale says. Cross over sensations Lady Antebellum and Taylor Swift are sure to show up in more than just the country categories.

As for the newcomers, Kip Moore and Luke Bryan are the ones to  watch. Moore’s single “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck”  and “Up All Night ” album are tearing up the Billboard’s Top 100. Bryan’s album “Tailgates & Tanlines” isn’t doing that bad either, with 42 weeks on the chart and still at number three, he’s showing the country music world who’s boss.

Although the official nominees won’t be announced until December,  when everything kicks off with “The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live! –  Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night”, there’s still plenty of time to get your own predictions going.
