David Nail probably never imagined that covering Adele’s song “Someone Like You” would lead to so much attention, but likely he’s not complaining.
After releasing an acoustic performance clip that became a special VEVO/YouTube David Nail Playlist Promotion last month, his label, MCA Nashville, announced that it is releasing a three-song David Nail EP called 1979 that will include his cover of “Someone Like You.”
“It’s hard to believe the life that ‘Someone Like You’ has taken on,” Nail says. “It’s proof that people hunger for great songs – and they are open to different interpretations of songs they love.”
The EP will be available July 17 for download on iTunes. Along with the Adele cover, 1979 will include two other songs: “The Sound of a Million Dreams” and “Half Mile Hill,” a track from TSOAMD. Both are stripped-down versions of songs that initially appeared on Nail’s 2011 album The Sound of a Million Dreams.
The EP’s title, 1979, refers to the year Nail was born.
