Jerrod Niemann‘s upcoming album is titled Free the Music, and when it comes to music, Jerrod says that he considers himself a student of the art form — although he could certainly be a teacher! Jerrod has a passion for understand the roots of music and connecting all the dots, and he’s hoping that he’ll continue to grow as a student of music. “Well, you know, you look around, anywhere you go, and you hear music, especially something we’ve all heard millions of times for several years. Songs stick around for a reason, because they are a message that people care about, and the message has to have a vehicle, which is that artist. And for me, those are two very, very important things that I don’t know why they’re important to me, it’s just they always have been. Country music has always been important to me. I am a student of country music, and hopefully, someday, all of music, but that being said, that’s the great thing is you can be a student of music, but you’re never gonna graduate because there’s too many things that have been done, too many different formats, and too many years spanning clear back to the beginning of recorded music. So, for me, it’s not to know every single thing about everybody, it’s to know about the people that I care about and about the songs that connect with me throughout my lifetime.”
