Not only do Jerrod Niemann and Kix Brooks happen to have the same record company, they also both have new albums — Jerrod withFree the Music, which released just last week, and Kix, with his terrific solo album, New to This Town. But before Jerrod found his groove as a recording artist, he’d been writing hit songs for other artists, including Garth Brooks — and Jerrod remembers that it was Garth, several years ago, who first made it possible for him to meet Kix. Jerrod told Sony Music Nashville:  “I remember meeting Kix. It was at Ronnie Dunn‘s house — he had a Rockin’ the Barn party, and Garth Brooks called myself and Richie Brown and said, ‘Hey, I can’t go to Ronnie Dunn’s house to his Rockin’ the Barn party. Would you guys go in my place? I have some tickets.’ And so, I got to meet Ronnie Dunn and of course, Kix, that night. And man, you can just tell when you meet Kix, he’s just a…he’s one of those guys that you just want to be around. I mean, he’s just a guy’s guy, and he’s hilarious and got a great sense of humor. And also, I think the kicker is he’s part of country music history, and that’s why I think everybody not only respects him so much, but just, like myself and my friends, we just always look forward to the next moment to get to hang with Kix Brooks.”
