Newcomer Kristen Kelly brings loads of personality to the music video for her fun hit single, “Ex-Old Man” — and while it’s easy to think that making a music video might be kind of a breezy gig — after all, they’re usually just a couple of minutes long — Kristen says there’s all kinds of things that can happen during filming that keep the guys and gals with those black slates adding new digits behind the word “Take.” Kristen told Sony Music: “The thing about shooting a video is that you could do one scene 20 times. And there’s so many different variables of why you need to shoot it again. It could be nothing to do with you or any of the other actors. It could be something, you know, with the tape. There’s just so many different variables. And so, when they’re like, ‘Oh, that one was great, but let’s do one more,’ and then there’s…and then one more and then one more, and then finally, it’s like, ‘Okay…okay…okay.’ So, I mean, it just makes you appreciate, you know, being in the studio because there are fewer factors that factor into getting a take. And so I think that the recording process goes a bit faster than the movie-making or video-making process does.”
