John Denver (Stephen Dunn /Allsport)

It’s been 15 years since country-folk legend John Denver passed away, but his music still lives on.

John Denver: The Music is You, due out in February, is a tribute to some of the artist’s biggest hits like “Leaving on a Jet Plane,” “Sunshine On My Shoulders,” “Back Home Again,” “I Guess He’d Rather Be In Colorado,” and “Annie’s Song.”

The album features cover by such artists as rockers Train, Dave Matthews, J. Mascis, and My Morning Jacket, alt-country/bluegrass outfit Old Crow Medicine Show, and singer-songwriters including country artist Mary Chapin CarpenterLucinda Williams, Amos Lee, Kathleen Edwards, and Brandi Carlile (who handles the iconic Denver anthem, “Take Me Home, Country Roads”).

A portion of the record’s proceeds will be used to benefit environmental initiatives in John’s name.
