The news of the shooting today at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. is too awful for words.

But as the story continues to unfold, like everyone else following this story, many country artists have attempted to shape their feelings into words and share them with their friends, fans, and loved ones. It’s not an easy task, we are all feeling the weight of this event. As Blake Shelton writes, “My heart is so heavy right now… I can’t shake it off.”

“Our hearts are broken,” write Rascal Flatts. “The world will never be the same,” says Martina McBride.

Lee Brice reminds us, though, that there are things we can do in right now: “Love those around you and never take a single day for granted.”
