This could be a big, wild and long weekend for lovers of country music, beach parties, and Kenny Chesney. The country star is opening his 19 city summer tour in Tampa on Saturday, March 16 at Raymond James Stadium.

With Kenny Chesney’s latest song “Pirate Flag” inching closer on the charts to the top ten and spring beakers looking for a good time what better way to kick off the summers biggest concert than by throwing a pre-concert warm up party on St. Pete Beach!

Join WQYK’s Steve Austin Thursday, March 14 from 3-7PM as he broadcasts from the Post Card Inn on St. Pete Beach. Steve is teaming up with Jon and Tambo of Chesney’s No Shoes Radio for this broadcast.

In an media release on kennychesney.com the star states that Steve, Jon and Tambo …” know how to stir it up!” He goes on to say that, “Barry Carew, who’s Corona Light’s official Tailgate DJ, is gonna keep the party rocking til 11pm!” He adds, “I never know if I am gonna be able to get there, but you know… It’s the first Beach Party of the year, and it sure sounds like it’s gonna be a great kick-off for the No Shoes Nation.”

I am going to read between the lines here…and take this statement as a hint that there is a possibility that Kenny may show up at the Postcard Inn.

Kenny is known for hosting last minute Keg in the Closet shows, where he shows up with little notice and plays a few sets. He did one a few weeks ago in Key West and then again last Friday night in Jacksonville at Freebird’s on the beach. Btw…according to his website Freebird’s in Jacksonville sold out of Corona light before Kenny even hit the stage.

I don’t know about you, but I am going to park my lilly white Irish butt at the Post Card Inn bar from noon til they close and wait and see if my hunch is correct and Kenny shows up. Wanna join me???? Either way we’ll have a blast!

Oh, I am putting an ice chest filled with Corona Light in the trunk of my car just in case they run out!
