Blake Shelton Releases New Album ‘Based On A True Story…’
He wouldn’t sing it if it wasn’t true. Or, at least, the fact that so many of the songs Blake Shelton chose for his latest studio album felt true to him is a big part of what led him to choose Based On A True Story… as his album title.
“I was listening to the album and I thought, ‘Man, every song on here is either “Been there, done that,” or I’m doing it right now,’ ” Blake explained, “so it really is my true life.”
The first single, which represents a fresh new sound for the ACM Entertainer of the Year nominee, has already made a huge impression on country fans, rocketing to Number One in record time. (Being about a guy picking up a woman in a bar, we’ll leave it to Miranda Lambert to quiz him on how much of that song is part of his ‘true life.’)
For Blake, as he recently told Radio.com, what struck about the song was that it “just sounded so different. The pocket is just so different from anything I’ve heard on country radio that I knew it was something I wanted to record.”
The 12 songs on True Story actually represent a wide range of fresh sounds and song styles. There are ballads such as “Do You Remember” and “Mine Would Be You” as well as roll-the-windows-down sing-along anthems such as “Country On The Radio.”
