I’m still a newcomer to country music. Fortunately WQYK broadened my musical horizons when they brought me aboard last year and it’s been a fun ride ever since.

But it’s also fun when country artists put their own spin on rock and pop songs. Yesterday, lots of the Fun ‘N Sun Toyota Celebration performers took a sidestep from their own songs and spiced things up with some awesome covers. Here were my top 5!

Obviously the video clips are from previous performances, but ya get the idea!

#1: Colt Ford performs LMFAO’s “Sexy And I Know It!”
C’mon. How can you not love a burly bearded redneck doin’ this one? I was backstage at the time taking a break and grabbing a bite to eat. I almost choked laughing when I heard the song start.

#2: Joel Crouse performs Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin'”
It was just a perfect chill out song on a sunny Florida day. Good choice by Joel.

#3: Colt Ford performs “Dirt Road Anthem”
Gotta say man, I think I liked Colt’s version better than Jason’s.

#4: Billy Currington performs “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”
Kind of a fun irony that he performed this one given that so many people thought he wouldn’t be at the show. We told you he’d be there!

#5: Joel Crouse performs The Eagles “Take It Easy”
I’m a huge Eagles fan, so this was a great start to the day.

Hope you had fun at the show. Check out my pictures from Fun ‘N Sun here!
