According to a statement on his website, Urban took some chances on his latest project. “I really wanted to challenge myself musically” and “expand the boundaries of my sound, rhythm and melody, while still remaining true to who I am,” he wrote. “Working with various co-producers while making Fuse has been so inspiring and liberating – and we ain’t even done yet!”
In an interview with USA Today, Urban noted that producers he’s worked with on Fuse so far include Nathan Chapman, Butch Walker, Dann Huff, Jay Joyce and Mike Elizondo. And all told, he’s cut basic tracks for about 16 songs. “It’s the first time I’m going to be well and truly over-cut,” Urban said, which “really allows me to shape the record.”
The singer behind such hits as “For You,” “Tonight I Wanna Cry,” and “All For You” has already given a fans a spark from Fuse. The album’s first single, “Little Bit of Everything,” was released to country radio earlier this month, and it debuted at No. 30 on Billboard‘s Country Singles chart. Keith also performed the song on American Idol.
Urban described ”Little Bit of Everything” as “tak[ing] elements of sound that I’ve used before and blend[ing] them together into a fusion of spirit and energy.”
Urban is also starting preparations for his Light The Fuse Tour with Little Big Town and Dustin Lynch, which kicks off July 18 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
