My Meaningful Moment With Jason Aldean
As a newcomer to WQYK I was thrilled when one of my co-workers said she had an extra ticket for Jason Aldean last week. It was my first concert here in Tampa and I enjoyed every minute of it. I moved here from Boston not long after the marathon bombings where a young girl from my hometown was killed at the finish line. As a news anchor then, I heard first hand accounts of how these tragedies affected all of the families of the injured. When Jason Aldean signed on to perform at The Boston Strong concert, I was really impressed because most of the lineup was Boston based talent. The minute he took the stage I could tell that he was there because he genuinely cared. So Friday night as I waited in line to meet Jason at the Ampitheater, I knew I only had a few seconds with him and had to somehow thank him. When my turn came I introduced myself and shook his hand and said “Jason, I’m on the air at WQYK, but I’m from Boston. Thank You so much for performing at the Boston Strong Concert….it meant so much to those victims and families.” He responded “It was my pleasure, I’m so glad I could help out.” So yes, I was right, Jason Aldean….A real class act.
