Brad Paisley and his wife Kimberly were sadly involved in a scam that led them to believe that they were communicating with a girl who was dying of cancer and her desperate mother. ABC’s Nightline reported that the woman had been sending emails to Paisleys wife with photos of the supposed sick girl named Claire. At one point Brad called the alleged “terminally ill” girl and sang “Amazing Grace” over the phone. The Mother involved in the hoax went as far as telling the Paisleys the girl had died.

It wasn’t until The Paisleys tried to send flowers to the distraught Mother, that they found out the entire story was a scam. Even worse, the pictures of “Claire” had been taken from another girl who really did suffer from the cancer, neuroblastoma. ABC News found out that there were at least a dozen other celebrities that were scammed by the same woman. The suspect, Hope Jackson was tracked down and arrested for “stealing the performance of a song”.
