50 Years Since JFK’s Tampa Visit, Dallas Assassination
50 years ago and 4 days before President John F. Kennedy was assassinated he made a visit to Tampa, Florida. The visit was 5 hours long on November 18, 1963. JFK made 3 speeches that day about the nations economy at The Tampa International Inn, Al Lopez Field, and Fort Homer Hesterly Armory. The motorcade drove 28 miles through the city streets in the same car that took Kennedy through Dallas on the last day of his life. Air Force One flew him out of MacDill Airforce base. The exhibit “50 Years Later, John F. Kennedy’s Life, Loss, And Legacy” runs through December 8th at The Tampa Bay History Center.
