After Kathleen Magowan passed away and left significant amount of money to schools, churches and charities it was discovered she was a multi-millionaire…and nobody knew it when she was alive.
Magowan and her twin brother Robert invested and saved nearly $10 million, and her estate is estimated at nearly $6 million.
The school teacher enjoyed a 35-year career and lived a modest, simple life so the fortune came as a surprise to the small Simsbury, Connecticut community.
The lawyers for Magowan took 2 years to discover the money after she left $480,000 to Simsbury public schools where she taught, $500,000 to the University of St. Joseph, $400,000 to the McLean nursing home where she died, and almost $375,000 to her local parish, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
