Here’s my picks for the top 4 female country artists to watch in 2014. These gals are sure to be making lots of heads turn in Nashville with their refreshingly honest lyrics and traditional country songs.

4. Jamie Lynn Spears

Former Nickelodeon child star Jamie Lynn Spears has just release her first music video as a recording artist and it’s not only country, it’s a really good traditional country song. Jamie Lynn’s first country single “How Could I Want More” has everyone talking not only about how great she sounds, but also how wonderful it is to hear a new country song that leans toward traditional country.

3. Caroline Kole

Caroline Kole is barely old enough to drive and she has already accomplished what many country singers twice her age only dream about.  She is managed by Reba McEntire’s hubby, has a publishing record deal and spends her weekends opening for Reba and other big named country artists. We agree with Reba this Tampa Bay raised teen is going places.

2. Brandy Clark

Her songs have been recorded by Miranda Lambert  (“Mama’s Broken Heart”), The Band Perry (“Better Dig Two), Billy Currington, Darius Rucker and Kacey Musgraves. Brandy just recieved her first Grammy Nomination for Best Country Song for “Mama’s Broken Heart” which she co-wrote with Shane McAnally and Kacey Musgraves.

1. Kacey Musgraves

2013 has been a great year for Kacey Musgraves she’s had a song she co-wrote (“Mama’s Broken Heart”) go number one, a song she also co-wrote (Undermine) was featured in the ABC television series Nashville. The former Nashville Star alumni was recently nominated for four Grammy Awards, which ties the amount Taylor Swift was nominated for this year! I predict big things for Musgraves in 2014…like a Grammy, or two!
