Exclusive: Behind the Scenes on Katie Armiger’s New Video ‘Safe’
A year after releasing her studio album Fall Into Me, which included the singles “Better in a Black Dress” and “Playin’ with Fire,” singer Katie Armiger is prepping the release of the album’s third single, “Safe.” Written by Armiger and Mallary Hope, “Safe” is a gentle, touching ballad about falling in love — and feeling fully comfortable in the care of someone else.
For the “Safe” music video, Armiger chose to illustrate that concept through the work of the nation’s first responders, whose job, after all, is to make us all feel ‘safe.’ The video was directed by Justin Baldoni and features the Long Beach Fire Department.
Below is an exclusive behind the scenes look at the music video:
Baldoni is both an actor (CSI) as well as a video director. In the latter role he’s best known as creator of a moving tribute to cancer victim Zach Sobiech, as well as a 27-minute wedding proposal video that turned into a viral sensation.
We saw Justin’s work that he did with Zach, and we all just fell in love with who he was, and what he wanted to be as a director,” says tour manager Chrissy Reter in the behind-the-scenes clip.
To accompany the “Safe” video, Armiger has created a supporting awareness campaign honoring first responders called Project Feel Safe.
The “Safe” music video will be available in a wide public release on Jan. 15.
