Steve recently talked to Keifer and Shawna before their concert at the 1-800-ASK-GARY Ampitheater where they were opening for Lady Antebellum.  Steve talked to them about touring as a husband and wife and also about their new dog, which is a schnorkie, which is a schnauzer and yorkie.

The dispatcher called for the police, so that was easy because they were in the room with her, remember this is a police station the guy tried to rob.  Keithan now currently resides in the Dallas County jail and definitely deserves our moron moment of the week.

Kutcher rose a few eyebrows with his outfit choice and half-hearted attempt at singing country music at the ACM Awards in Las Vegas last month.

The actor approached her at The Kentucky Derby over the weekend. Lambert told WQYK’s Steve Austin that Ashton was sincere in his apology, saying to her, “I love country music. I grew up on a farm in Iowa. I would never make fun of country. I was just trying to be funny.”

Lambert says the two hung out the next day and describes Kutcher as “really sweet.”

Miranda says she enjoys being “country royalty” with her husband Blake Shelton, saying “It’s cool to celebrate it with somebody you love and then you just go home and be normal. It’s awesome.”

Blake is busy these days as The Voice competition is wrapping up. Clearwater’s Juliet Simms is in the running and Miranda says reality show contestants sometimes get a bad rap. Lambert says that reality show contestants are changing the music industry, referencing Kelly Clarkson. She says the negative comments people have made over the years about reality shows are from people who are “jealous because they didn’t get the opportunity to be on one.”

“The Avengers” made $151.5 million overseas, which brings its worldwide total to 641.8 million since the movie opened a week and a half ago.  The top five movie of the weekend were “The Avengers”, “Think Like a Man”, “The Hunger Games”, “The Pirates! Band of Misfits” and “The Lucky One”.

This is just the beginning of the busy summer movie season and next week is Johnny Depp’s turn with his movie “Dark Shadows”.

The police then clocked him 170 mph and when the man had traveled 50 miles in twenty minutes the police finally caught him when he slowed down for traffic.  When the officer told him how fast he was going the man allegedly told the officer that his motorcycle could top 190 mph.

Jay Leno’s other guest that night was Scarlett Johannson and she asked if they are as big on television as they are in person and Blake says yes they are.  Blake says that Christina’s boobs deserve their own chair on The Voice.  The Voice is in its second season on NBC and all four of the judges have already signed on for a third season on the singing competition.

Thomas M. Barth told Robert’s Signs of Warsaw, Indiana and Kevin Kyle of Winona Lake that he was the agent and photographer for Brantley.

A police report provided by the Warsaw Police Department said Barth then sent emails and texts to both parties as if he was Brantley Gilbert.

Barth received more than $8,000 of items from the sign company over the past few months. He also allegedly received around $4,000 in music and electronic equipement from Kevin Kyle.

Kyle contacted CBS Radio station WYCD via Facebook and said the police arrested Barth after a sting at his home studio. Much of the merchandise was recovered, but Kyle is still hoping to get back two guitars and a Marshall Halfstack amp.

According to the police report, Gilbert and his managers said they had received numerous complaints about Barth in the past few months and told him to stop misrepresenting himself as being affiliated with the band.

Barth is currently facing two counts of felony theft and is due back in court on May 24.

Brantley is currently a nominee for a 2012 CMT Music Award in the USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year category for “Country Must Be Country Wide.”

The ship will have the same dimensions as the original Titanic, but will have modern technology, so icebergs should not be a problem with the new ship.  The new Titanic will be powered by diesel fuel instead of coal and the interior of the ship will feature a on-board gymnasium and swimming pools. When asked if the ship could sink the Australian billionaire said, “Of course it will sink if you put a hole in it.”

The four-day festival is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with performances from scores of artists, including such notables as Gill, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Bela Fleck, Los Lobos, Marty Stuart, and, of course, legendary flat-picking guitarist Doc Watson.

The festival is named after Doc’s son, Eddy Merle Watson, a superb and accomplished musician in his own right, who died tragically in 1985 in a tractor accident.

The first MerleFest took place in 1988, and among those first performers was Vince Gill. This year, Gill is among many paying tribute to another MerleFest regular, banjo legend Earl Scruggs, one of the linchpins in the founding of bluegrass, who died last month at age 88.

“Bluegrass music made an amazing impression on me when I was young,” Gill told the Winston-Salem Relish. And as for the festival, “MerleFest is honest and authentic,” he continued. “When I’m asked to play, I feel flattered because of who they bring to the festival each year.”

Gill “included but didn’t lean on his best known country hits” during his set, according to a Country Standard Time reviewer. Other performers last night included Dailey & Vincent, the Deep Dark Woods, Steel Wheels, and Donna the Buffalo with Jim Lauderdale. Los Lobos is scheduled for Friday, and Krauss and Union Station play Sunday night.

But while stars like Gill and Krauss make the headlines, festivals like MerleFest are at their core community events that invite and inspire music fans and musicians of all stripes to get together, pick, sing, laugh, and connect around their shared love of music. The stages have great music, sure, but you could argue the heart and soul of the festival is found among the campfire picking parties and drop-in acoustic jam sessions.

Festival founders call the music at MerleFest “traditional plus.” Meaning, as Doc Watson himself described it, “the traditional music of the Appalachian region plus whatever other styles we [are] in the mood to play.”

MerleFest 25 takes place April 26-29 on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina.
